A drawing of Jessica Alba. Im not really a big fan, but she looked pretty in the pic, and I needed practice on the hair and shading. I think the hair turned out pretty good, but I kinda messed up on the shading. But anyways, I hope you like it. And Happy New Year!!!
Well this is a beautiful piece, and like you said, the hair came out very well. The shading is very well done, and the the hair glints in the light, as real hair does.
I think that the shading on the face is also well done, but from what I've noticed about the most successful portraits that I've seen is that there is rarely an outline, or any solid line used anywhere on the face, but most especially around the ear.
See link [link] and look at the outline around the chin. It is blended into the shadow of the chin, and it fades out long before it gets to the ear.
All you need to do is get the blending and softening brush and soften the outline of the face until it blends into the shadow, and blend the highlights alittle more around the eyebrows, and I think the piece will look really superb
I'm here on behalf of because your piece was in the group's critique requested folder. Your work is pretty impressive, I'd say (: the only thing I'd humbly suggest is that you smooth your stroke a little, especially for what concerns the edges of the face, and also of the eyes. You could also try to darken more areas such as lips and eyes corners, to give more volumeand depht to the flesh. Anyway, I agree with you about the hair, you did well, above all you must have really taken your time! Keep up practicing, you'll see amazing results ; )
I'm here on behalf of because your piece was in the group's critique requested folder... the over all picture is really great! I only think the shading needs more practice the shadows on her cheeks are to dark, they should be softer and a little lighter but otherwise it's an awesome drawing and her hair and eyes are beautifully draw good job!
